Our Model: A Community Bridge

Labor Values Are Our Foundation, Community Is Our Mission
The Labor Response Community is a community benefit organization rooted in the values of solidarity and mutual aid. Our work is guided by the experiences of union members and community leaders who bring decades of organizing and service to our mission. We are solidarity in action.
Built on Partnership, Rooted in Community
Labor Response Community operates as a project of Community Partners, our fiscal sponsor. This partnership provides the administrative backbone that allows us to focus on our mission: converting community insecurity into strength.
We are proud to also serve as the fiscal sponsor for HFIA 5, supporting two of their projects: one in the Inland Empire and one in Orange County.
Guided by Experience
Our leadership team includes individuals with deep roots in our community, many of whom have years of experience in labor, mutual aid, and community organizing. This lived experience shapes our approach to building worker power and community resilience.
Activating Community Skills
Our community is full of skilled people. Our model creates pathways for individuals to apply their talents for the common good, becoming certified community responders, leading mutual aid efforts, or helping neighbors navigate pathways to stable careers.
Our Approach: Connecting Strengths
We don't duplicate services. We build powerful connections between:
-
Community Infrastructure (CERT programs, food networks, social services)
-
Experienced Community Members (including union members, retirees, and local leaders)
For Example – CERT: We connect community members to their city's official CERT program. If a program isn't accessible, we advocate for one. We facilitate, promote, and empower, turning community skills into deployed assets.
